With nearly 2 million Americans purchasing the new Adele CD in the 1st week, shows optical discs are still very desirable in the US and around the world.

adele-cd.jpg

It was announced that from Nov. 20th – Nov. 26th, musical artist Adele, sold over 3.38 million copies of her latest album “25” in the US alone. Of those sales, over 1.7 million of her albums were from actual compact discs rather than digital downloads. That shows that even though digital downloads of music are still very prevalent, there is still a large population of consumers that prefer a tangible medium, like a CD, to purchase and listen to their music.

You don’t have to be a megastar like Adele to get people to buy your CD. In fact, with inexpensive recording equipment and disc duplication hardware, like the Vinpower line of optical disc duplicators, smaller independent artists have an even better opportunity to get their music heard by selling CD’s to their fans than ever before. When you’re performing in front of an audience and they are anxious to purchase a copy of your CD, why send them to a website and risk losing the sale? It’s better to have physical compact discs available on site or use a Vinpower duplicator along with Optodisc media to create new CD’s on the spot in a couple of minutes.

The Compact Disc is very much alive and will continue to be a very prominent medium along with digital downloads. Don’t believe me, just ask the nearly 2 million people in the US that purchased a physical Compact Disc of Adele’s album recently and I’m sure there will be plenty more that will continue to do so in the weeks ahead.

Vinpower is now offering Plextools software, which can measure a media’s PIPO results to identify media quality

plextools-pipo.jpg

How often do you burn content, maybe pictures, videos, presentations, etc., onto a recordable disc and just store it someplace, never thinking about whether the content is safe or not? Typically you won’t know until you need to retrieve content from that disc in the future. At that point, it may be too late and the content you thought was safe forever could have been corrupted or it disappeared because you didn’t test the media to make sure whether it was still good quality or not.

The new PlexTools software from Vinpower Digital, which is available with the retail version of the Plextor PX-891SAF drive, allows the user to gauge whether the media they recorded on is still in good shape or if it is showing signs of deterioration which could result in potential data loss. Using a simple stoplight notification method, if PlexTools shows the media is in the green, then the content is safe and you can continue to safely store that disc to retrieve the content later. If PlexTools shows the media is in the yellow, then it’s recommended to back up the content onto another disc sooner than later to avoid data loss. If PlexTools shows the media is in the red, then you should back-up the content immediately to another disc or a HDD, as the content is in serious jeopardy of being lost if it’s not already.

Using PlexTools has a multitude of functionality for testing and reviewing media quality, but most critically, it gives you piece of mind that you can determine with a high degree of certainty whether your recorded content on optical discs are safe or threatened, giving you the opportunity to extend the longevity of your content and your recorded discs.

OptoDisc Inkjet Printable media allows the user to print in FAST MODE on an Epson PP-100 without any bending lines

opto-epson-print-quality.jpg

Why should we have to choose between better quality vs. faster speed? When it comes to inkjet printing on optical discs, it seems if you want greater production in a shorter period of time, you have to accept imperfections on the printed discs, like light bending lines from the print head. Well those days are over because OptoDisc inkjet printable media gives you the best of both worlds, speedy production and excellent print quality. The special inkjet coating formula that is available on the entire line of OptoDisc inkjet printable CD’s, DVD’s, and Blu-ray discs allows users to print in the fast mode on an Epson PP-100 or PP-100AP printer to maximize production, yet won’t show any of the faint lines that typically show up with alternative inkjet printable media under the Fast Mode setting.

With the special advanced absorption surface of the OptoDisc inkjet printable media, it allows the printer to apply the ink onto the discs at a faster pace without leaving the common streaks or lines that show up on other similar media. No one wants to handout less than perfectly printed discs and you shouldn’t have to sacrifice production time in order to achieve it. If you really want the best quality print, in the quickest time possible at a low reasonable price point, then your best bet is to use inkjet printable media made from OptoDisc!

Vinpower now offering free upgrade from 480GB to 1TB SSD on all Cronus BD/DVD/CD Plus Publishing systems

cronus-ssd-upgrade.jpg

Vinpower Digital has increased the size of the internal SSD drives on all new Cronus BD/DVD/CD Plus publishing systems from 480GB up to 1TB at no added cost. In this fast paced world where everyone wants everything yesterday, there’s no time to wait on a publishing system to load and burn your Blu-ray, DVD, or CD projects synchronously. The best method to get the job done is to allow the publishing system to burn and print the discs asynchronously. However, this is not also possible on many publishing systems, especially those with more than 2 drives. So Vinpower devised their Cronus Plus publishing systems to work flawlessly when burning even the large capacity Blu-ray discs in asynchronous mode for a faster and more efficient publishing system.

Plus, with the increase from 480GB to 1TB on the internal SSD at no added cost, the Cronus Plus publishing systems can hold a much greater number of projects and work even more efficiently than ever before. Vinpower has always been about giving more for less, so when you need a system that can quickly and efficiently burn and print optical discs through an automated system, Vinpower’s Cronus Plus publishing system, now with 1TB SSD drives, is the best solution on the market.

Sharp showcases their new AQUOS 4K Recorder Ultra HD Blu-ray player / recorder at the 2015 CEATEC JAPAN

sharp-4k-player.jpg

Following Panasonic’s announcement of the first of its kind 4k Ultra HD Blu-ray player, Sharp introduces its own Ultra HD Blu-ray player and 4k recorder. That’s big news because that moves us 1 step closer to having Ultra HD Blu-ray duplicators. Once people can create their own master content, then they will want to make copies and that will lead them to purchase the larger capacity BD-R media that can support the large format capacity, like BD DL or BDXL media. Plus it will lead the same people to purchase new duplicators with BDXL capable recorder drives that can handle the large capacity media.

This just further exemplifies that optical discs will remain relevant and will have a sizeable impact in future technology and functionality. For more information about this new player or anything related to the duplication marker, feel free to contact a member of the Vinpower staff or an authorized Vinpower reseller.

In an effort to restructure, Imation has accelerated plans to exit the media business

imation.jpg

Announced this week, Imation plans to wind down its media business and end their long-term license agreement with TDK Corporation. This is a major announcement on the heels of Taiyo Yuden also announcing their decision to exit the optical disc field to concentrate on other business opportunities earlier this summer. There have been a number of smaller media manufactures and suppliers exiting the industry over the last year or two, but the fact that two of the more prominent media suppliers, in TY and Imation have made plans to move away from selling optical media, it leaves a number of customers with a void to fill for their recordable optical discs.

Imation and Taiyo Yuden didn’t decide to exit the market because they had zero sales, it was due to the fact that sales weren’t as profitable as they had been previously and they were public companies that had to show future growth. However, there is still a sizeable market for recordable optical discs around the world. Vinpower is focused intently on being the company that can fulfill the needs of those displaced customers looking for an alternative solution to TY or Imation, but not suffer any drop off in quality or reliability. Vinpower’s OptoDisc media has quickly picked up a following of believers that the OptoDisc media will consistently and reliably perform up to and often beyond their expectations.

OptoDisc media will continue to be available if virtually every format type, such as CD-R, DVD+/-R, DVD+R DL, BD-R, BD-R DL, etc., as well as surface types, including silver top, inkjet printable and thermal printable in white or silver matte, as well as the glossy water and scratch resistant Liquid Defense Plus inkjet printable. If you have not tried OptoDisc media and have been using Taiyo Yuden/JVC or Imation, this is a great opportunity to test OptoDisc today to see if it would be a perfect replacement for your business or personal use.

Recordable Blu-ray discs to increase 7.7% CAGR to over 2.5 Billion over the next 10 years

bd-volume-increase.jpg

According to a study by Future Markets Insights (FMI), recordable Blu-ray discs sales will increase by a 7.7% compound annual growth rate (CAGR) from 2015 to 2025, for a cumulative volume of over 2.5 billion recordable BD discs sold annually. Currently, recordable Blu-ray discs account for 13% of the recordable optical disc market. That percentage is certain to grow and the primary factors fuelling the demand for recordable Blu-ray discs include an increasing demand for high volume storage discs and content protection against piracy.

Vinpower has been focused on both of these elements for many years as we anticipated this shift years ago. As content becomes larger and the amount of the content also grows, the most efficient and inexpensive method for storing and disseminating that content is through Blu-ray optical discs. We mentioned many times how major companies like Sony, Panasonic, etc. are constantly looking at ways to expand the storage capacity of optical discs, to where a single disc holding a 1TB of data is not far fetch. Now that 4K Ultra HD content is rolling out to the public, the need to 60GB+ to 100GB+ is going to become as common as the 25GB BD-R, dropping the price and making them more affordable for the average consumer.

So if you want to ride the Blu-ray wave of opportunity, contact Vinpower or a Vinpower representative today for more details about our line of Blu-ray media and hardware.

Now available from Samsung, the world’s first consumer ready 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray player

ultra-hd-bd-player.jpg

It was only a matter of time before it happened, but Samsung beat everyone else to the punch and announced the world’s 1st consumer ready 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray player at the IFA trade show in Berlin, Germany this past week. A number of TV manufactures have already created 4K capable televisions, but Samsung has taken the next step and mirrored the 4k Ultra BD player to have a curved front bezel to match the curved appearance of their 4K TV’s, given them both a more uniform look. Previously, 4K content was limited, mostly because there weren’t any available players. Now, with the introduction of the Samsung 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray player, to be named the UBS-K8500, scheduled to be commercially available in 2016, the content will come. In fact, 20th Century Fox has already announced that they will be releasing 4K titles for the Samsung player and the many other players that are soon to enter the market.

This is just another example of how optical discs will continue to be an integral element of our entertainment experience and will be relevant for many more years to come. In fact, it’s understood that the Blu-ray Disc Association will approve a new 66GB DL disc to handle the larger 4k format capacity. So don’t throw out your DVD or Blu-ray movie collection and keep creating content on optical discs, because there will still be optical disc players and there will still be consumers looking for optical disc content to play on them. As these files get larger and larger, it will be harder to stream and still capture the true imagery and sound embedded on the Ultra HD BD discs, so if you want the full experience, optical discs are the best option.

Every month, new users are converting to the OptoDisc line of media, and they’ve been thrilled by the results!

optodisc2.jpg

Vinpower introduced its line of OptoDisc recordable media over a year ago and it has been an amazingly successful venture. The main reason is the media simply and consistently performed and users have been very happy with the results. As our C.E.O., Calvin Chang, proclaimed, “When people use OptoDisc media in their duplicators and/or disc printers, the media burns and prints successfully time and time again. When they use the recorded OptoDisc media in their players, it plays consistently. Basically, the media performs the way it’s supposed to and each batch works exactly the same as the previous batch and the batch before that.” Vinpower has been adamant about maintaining both the media quality and the consistency across all manufactured lots. So if you’re happy with the performance, you’ll continue to be happy as the media will continue to work in the same manner every time you buy it.

OptoDisc is not a brand itself, but a manufactured media that is the basis for a number of popular brands currently on the market. To find out if your media is OptoDisc manufactured, look for the OptoDisc MID or contact a Vinpower representative to learn which brands are made from OptoDisc. If you haven’t had the opportunity to try OptoDisc media for yourself, contact a Vinpower representative today to see how much OptoDisc can save you.
