With Vinpower’s TrueAudio DVD CD Duplicator, be assured to get truly accurate CD audio duplication!

TrueAudio Duplicator

When the CD was introduced in the early 1980’s, it took the world by storm. The ability to hear their music in such pristine clarity and an entire album could be contained on 1 side, meant the listener didn’t have to stop the music to turn the record or cassette to side B. At that time, there was only replicated CD’s as the recordable CD-R wasn’t invented or probably thought of at that time. By the early 90’s, the 1st recordable CD-R’s were introduced and even though the early versions were very expensive and slow, it didn’t take long for the CD-R to take off either. As the prices dropped and accessibility of recordable drives and CD-R’s increased, CD duplication towers began popping up all over.

The problem with CD duplication towers were there were no ways to perform a proper compare after the content was duplicated because CD-R’s had no ECC and there was no way to perform an accurate parity check through the duplicators. That meant there was no way to make an exact 100% recreation of CD audio content. That was until now. Vinpower has created their exclusive line of TrueAudio duplication equipment that can perform the 1st ever true Copy and Compare feature for audio CD-R’s. This option will allow operators performing audio CD duplication the assurance that the copied discs will be an exact reproduction of the master content.

CD duplication, particularly audio CD, is still extremely strong in many territories, showing there’s still a need for a better and more reliable CD duplicator. Just because the overall market has decreased, it doesn’t mean the market has disappeared. In fact, the businesses that have stayed the course, are finding it’s worthwhile to continue investing in CD duplication hardware as they are picking up more clients that no longer find replication a viable option.

Of course these towers can copy DVD as well, but the true advantage is the CD audio Copy and Compare functionality. If you’re looking to improve your reliability and confidence with your CD audio duplication jobs, contact Vinpower to learn more about our TrueAudio Duplicators.

If the floppy disk is still in demand, then optical discs surely have a long future ahead

Floppy still around

Recently I came across an article about a friend of Vinpower that still has a robust business selling floppy disks (see link to article below). Of course, the first thought that comes to mind is, who still uses floppy disks? Interesting enough, there are still many industries that built incredibly complex equipment 30, 40, even 50 years ago, that are still operational today. For instance, aviation equipment, military installations, nuclear armaments, medical installations, and more. These devices still require floppies to insert feature updates and other digital inputs from time to time. In most cases, like the nuclear arms, the fact they use such dated technology actually makes them safer because they are not susceptible to online hacking or remote entry.

With that in mind, there are certainly equipment built in the late 90’s and 2000’s that upgraded from floppy to optical disc (CD, DVD, Blu-ray) and will also have long lifespans requiring optical discs for upgrades and updates. Although, optical discs will certainly maintain an even greater influence well into the future due to its naturally embedded benefits, like being write once, large capacity, easy to store, archival grade, low maintenance, and much more. That means that optical discs cannot be altered, hold a tremendous amount of data, less sensitive than magnetic or tape storage, maintains data for a long time, and doesn’t require electricity or power when stored. That makes optical discs ideal for industries that need to be able to rely on a technology to last as long if not longer than the product(s) that rely on them.

Here’s the article about the demand for floppy disks:

Content online can be lost, which is why keeping important content on physical media, like Optical Discs is critical

Online content lost forever

The not so old adage that anything posted online will remain there forever, is not as ironclad as it sounds. In fact, recently, our industry discovered just how untrue that statement could be. One of the biggest forums for CD,DVD and Blu-ray drives, which thrived for over 20 years, suddenly and unexpectantly disappeared. A few months ago, the “www.Club.myce.com” forum was no longer accessible and all tests, reports and much more from the last 20 years have simply been lost to the metaverse. You may be thinking, the loss of the Club myce forum doesn’t affect me as only a limited number of people were still actively participating in the forum. However, it’s more a symbol of a larger possibility. It shows us that any content online could be lost at a moment’s notice, just because the owner of the servers holding the content decides to remove it or there’s some type of catastrophe wiping out the data center(s) containing that content.

The point being, it’s never a good idea to rely solely on one type of backup solution, but especially not an online cloud that you have no control over. That’s why physical media, in particular, optical discs, are still one of the best solutions for storage of digital content. Only optical discs are write once, so the content on them can’t be deleted or altered in anyway. Plus, optical discs typically have an archival life of 50+ years and the content on them can be transferred nearly an unlimited number of times without any degradation or loss.

If you have critical data that you want to ensure you always have access to, your best bet is to keep at least 1 set of backups on optical discs. You can still maintain content in the cloud, but don’t think just because it’s on the web, that it will be there forever. One day, it could be gone and you will have no control. Instead, take control and keep your own copies.

Vinpower’s line of RipBox and Cronus systems now offer complete audio CD ripping capabilities

Rip old CD's with Ripbox Cronus

If you’re like me, you have shelves or possibly boxes full of CD’s you’ve collected over time and now they just sit there collecting dust. It’s not because you don’t enjoy the music any longer, but it’s just not as convenient anymore. What if I told you there is an easy and automated way you can rip your entire CD’s collection onto your computer or a portable hard drive quickly and accurately? It’s true, using the low cost Vinpower RipBox or the high production Cronus systems, you can set the discs into the input bins, walk away and let the systems do the work. Come back and find all the discs you loaded ripped needing to babysit or monotonously loading each disc 1 at a time into your computer drive, if you even still have one.

In fact, all the content will retain all the crucial metadata, like the artist name, song title, album title, and so much more. On top of that, you can save the files onto any type of format you’d like, including the more common .mp3 or for true audio files, onto lossless audio files like flac or .wav, to retain that authentic uncompressed sound as it was meant to be heard.

Maybe you already ripped all your CD’s a long time ago into iTunes or similar software, where they were all ripped as the extremely compressed files, losing a lot of the original sound quality the artist and producers worked so hard to create. Now you can easily and cheaply rip all the discs again into a high quality lossless audio file, like flac or .wav. Now you can once again listen to the music in its original uncompressed state for a more dynamic listening experience.

In the world of audio recordings, older technology, like CD’s, tapes, and vinyl, still have plenty of life left!

Music media generations

The younger generations are always told to respect their elders because they have wisdom and life experiences that they can pass on. Hopefully then, the youth can capitalize on that historical outlook and create new and improved opportunities for themselves and those to follow. The same is true in technology, where each predecessor passes on experiences to help improve the newer iteration. Yet, that doesn’t mean in with the new and out with the old. There is still nostalgia and critical use for the older technology and ensures a long and useful life to come.

For optical discs, it holds the benefits of both old and new technology.
Being a physical media, means that it’s not dependent on internet capability or the cloud for access. Yet, being a digital format, means that the content is not only in its highest quality, but also allows a greater range of content to be stored on it. So, while the older vinyl and cassette tapes have a nostalgic appeal, they are still limited in their offerings. Yet, optical discs can offer all the benefits of digital streaming, yet provides a safety net of protection should the streaming content be corrupted or disabled.

As in life as in technology, don’t disparage someone or something because it’s been around for a long time and there’s a newer version. Best to embrace that past as we continue to develop the future.

CES 2023 should return to its pre-pandemic level of participation and attendance, registration is now open to make sure you can be there too.

CES 2023 registration

In 2021, CES went entirely digital, which couldn’t match the feel of the in person experience. In 2022, CES tried a hybrid approach of online and in-person to a lukewarm revival of sorts. The exhibitor participation and guest attendance was sparce due to continued concerns over COVID and the Omicron variant. That left fewer exhibitors participating and a drop in attendees to see them. However, in 2023, it appears as though CES will return to its pre-COVID glory with a full list of exhibitors back in person so attendees can once again see and experience the latest in technology in person. This is sure to mean that show attendees will be returning in droves to be the first to see the hottest new technology coming to the market.

For that purpose, Vinpower will also return as an exhibitor and introduce a new product line that will continue our focus in digital storage, but highlight the new and inspiring directions we are moving into for the future. If you want to be part of the action at CES 2023, taking place January 5 – 8, 2023, then be sure register for your passes now. This is a great time to return to CES and see what Vinpower and the rest of the vendors have to offer. You won’t want to miss it, and everyone that visits Vinpower’s booth has an opportunity to win one of our latest and hottest new product lines that we’ve ever developed. This new product is not another duplicator or something that caters to a select niche of customers, but will be incredibly useful for everyone!

Streaming and purchasing digital versions of movies and shows may not last, unlike that same content on optical discs.

movies disappear in the cloud

There are a lot of people that like to keep all their digital content in the cloud and they think just because they paid for it, the 3rd party they purchased it from will keep it for them forever. Sony, among other companies, recently proved that’s not the case. Earlier this year, Sony put out an announcement, basically stating that due to licensing agreements with content providers, some previously purchased Studio Canal content will be removed from the customer’s video library. Those customers were not offered refunds or anything other than an apology for the inconvenience.

This further strengthens the argument for owning a physical copy of the movies and music that you really enjoy and would be devastated if the title was no longer available. When it comes to streaming platforms and cloud storage, the user is at the whim of the storage facilitator. If that company gets in a dispute with the content owner, as it appears in this case with Sony, your content could be removed. If the cloud storage provider simply decides they need more space and offline content that hasn’t been seen in a while, or worst yet, that cloud storage supplier goes bankrupt or exits the industry for a better opportunity, all the content they possess, could simply disappear from your stored files.

With physical storage items, like optical discs, especially Blu-ray, means it’s possible to keep that content safe and available at all times, when you need them. Storing Ultra Hi-Def 4K content on Blu-ray means that content will always be available when you want to watch them. Plus, the archival life of optical discs is typically between 50 to 100 years at least.

If you care about the movies you want to keep in your library, it’s advisable to at least keep a copy on optical disc for safe keeping, so that if or when the digital version vanishes, you will always have the original.

When a video is too big to email, quickly backup to iXflash and load it anywhere.

iXflash saves the day

Recently I had a situation where the iXflash was the perfect solution for a typical issue many of us face. We sell a products on Amazon, and from time to time, a customer will post a question about those products. As the manufacturer, we like to answer those questions quickly and concisely, especially if we can use a quick video to convey the message. We had an inquiry as to how tall one of our duplicators were. I took out a tape measure and took a very short video measuring the duplicator that I intended to use to answer the question on Amazon. Of course, like most people, I used my cell phone to take the video.

Now that I took the video, I needed to transfer to my work desktop computer so that I could load onto Amazon to answer the customer question. The video was very short in duration, but because everything is filmed in hi-def or 4K, it still made the file size too big for me to email to myself. So the issue becomes, what’s the easiest way to transfer the short video from my iPhone to the computer? Alas the answer was simple. I connect my iXflash to my iPhone, select to back up the single image/video, and then take the iXflash with the video stored on it and insert the USB side into my computer. Within a matter of seconds, I had the video on my PC and I was able to upload the video onto Amazon for that customer and any others that may have a similar question to view and get their answer.

You may not have to load videos to Amazon, but I’m certain there are many times in life when you needed to transfer an image or video from your phone to a computer and it was far more complicated than it needed to be. The iXflash removes those barriers and simplifies transferring images, files, documents, audio recordings, movies, songs, and so much more between your iPhone or iPad and virtually any device that connects with a USB connection.

If you use an iPhone or iPad to film content as a function of your job, the iXflash is the ideal time and money saver that you don’t want to be without!
