I had a great weekend, I went to see a Noah’s Ark exibit and had a great time. Imagine how much easier Noah’s job would have been if he had a Vinpower Digital Duplicator.  He could have gathered just one of every animal and waited unitl it was time to exit the ark to dupliate it. I know the person in charge of cleaning the ark would have appreciated it!
Heat Wave!!!
The heat is on!!! For all of you out there that can’t spend your days of summer floating in a body of water off of a coast because you have to work in the duplication business; just remember Vinpower Digital has aluminum casing to help keep your duplicators cool while you run those large duplication projects.Â

Dubai 2009 Gitex Trade Show – An Unforgettable Experience                               Â
Oct 16th, 2009, I’m not sure how many times I’ve traveled on an airplane in the past, but I am sure this is the most exciting time. Because where I am going is the pear of the world: Dubai. I went there for the Gitex IT trade show, one of the biggest and most famous electronic product trade shows in the region.                                            Â
Before I ever had the chance to put my foot on Dubai soil, all I’ve known about the area I read in newspapers and magazines. I read about their culture, whether, religion, and economic situation, but that doesn’t begin to tell a complete story of the area.  When we walked out from terminal 3, seeing the road side skyscrapers, fancy cars, big malls, and everything, it’s hard to believe that this was all dessert before. The whether made me think of Taiwan, because they are very similar, even the street scene is similar.                                      Â
Saturday, one day before the trade show, we prepared all the units for the show.   These units were prepared by the Taiwan team and they did a great job helping us ship all the samples and having the units ready to be exhibited. Since it’s my first time in Dubai, my Boss let me go on the sightseeing tour held by our travel agent. The tour involves being driven in a 4WD Toyota Jeep, running up and down in the dessert. They would play Middle East style electronic music on the trip, it’s quite a special experience. After that, we had dinner in the dessert, eating typical local BBQ cuisine. While we ate, there were Belly dancers and some other traditional dancing, which I can not recall the name of. What a pleasurable night! I give thanks to the team for letting me have this opportunity. Afterwards I am Preparing myself to face the first day of what’s sure to be a busy trade show.    Â
Dubai is the center of trade throughout the Middle East, Africa, parts of Europe and Asia. After 13:00 pm, customers form all over the world came to our booth. It was so busy, we did not even have time to eat. What I see is that this is a really developing and well educated market. All the customers have basic IT industry knowledge, which is why they can easily tell the difference between us and our competitors. People keep looking for new stuff and better technology, the supplier has to pay more attention with customer’s need, and put more effort on service.     Â
We had a great show because of the strong presence of our products, and the patient attitude of our staff during this busy time. Believe it or not, we did not have time to eat lunch. It makes me feel like when the farmers get an abundant harvest and they do not have time to rest, the body gets tired, but the heart feels happy and excited. When I saw our competitor’s booth is almost empty, and the customers are making lines waiting to buy our products, I am so proud of myself for working at Vinpower Digital.
The Winner Is…Blu-ray! Or Is It the Manufacturers of Optical Disc products?
For the past 2 years the battle over the hi-def optical disc format has been hard fought by the HD DVD camp heralded by Toshiba and the Blu-ray camp lead by Sony. This is the second go round in the home video player market for Sony, so they gained a lot of experience and knowledge from their previous failure. There’s been plenty written about the two formats in the mainstream media and even in this blog, so there’s no need to continue discussing the merits of either format. However, now there seems to be a clear victor in this battle of hi-def supremacy.
Though it’s been speculated for months that Blu-ray will be the eventual champion, the HD DVD camp was intent on making a last ditch effort by dropping the price and willing to fight on. This past Friday, it was reported, though not officially confirmed, that Toshiba has admitted defeat and will discontinue the HD DVD line. For both sides there was a tremendous amount of money spent in development, promotion, advertising, etc, all in pursuit to be, what is estimated, the heir apparent to the DVD format. In the end the writing was on the wall and there was no reason for the HD DVD group to throw good money after bad. It will take some time to sort out all the loose ends, but that’s really all that’s left to do.
So who is the real winner in this decision? Of course Blu-ray because they reversed their previous failure in the video cassette field and can claim victory and all the accolades that go along with it. But really it’s the manufacturers of optical disc products like drives, players, media, DUPLICATORS, etc. They no longer have to sit on the fence trying to work with both sides and can concentrate all their efforts on one format. At the same time, the consumer is no longer torn as to what format to purchase and not be frightened about purchasing hi-def merchandise for fear of being stuck with the loosing format. So the market has narrowed, opening the competition between vendors to make the Blu-ray products desired by the consumer and get them into the market quick before the price and in turn profits drop significantly or a new technology makes it obsolete.
Who knows how long Blu-ray has to bask in their victory, but they’re not the only one’s who will rejoice with HD DVD’s withdrawal. So for all the manufacturers who produce products using Blu-ray technology, now your only competition is each other and may the market bear fruit for us all.
Xerox Making Big Changes
Xerox is undergoing a major transformation to reestablish the brand as more than just a paper copier company. For many like myself, when we refer to making multiple copies of documents, products, etc. on paper, I would often refer to it as “Xeroxing†them. In an effort to further expose the Xerox brand beyond this functionality, they have recently announced a major re-branding effort as well as establishing a number of new patents and products. In fact Xerox was awarded 584 patents in 2007, a remarkable feat.
“We have transformed Xerox into a business that connects closely with customers in a content-rich digital marketplace,” said Anne M. Mulcahy, Xerox chairman and chief executive officer. “Our new brand reflects who we are, the markets we serve and the innovation that differentiates us in our industry. We have expanded into new markets, created new businesses, acquired new capabilities, developed technologies that launched new industries — all to ensure we make it easier, faster, and less costly for our customers to share information.”
In addition, and more related to the topics of this blog, there will be a new addition to the Office Products line of merchandise with the introduction of the Xerox Duplicator series. This new innovation on the standard optical disc duplicator series offers the unique “Drag & Drop†function which allows the user to transfer image files directly from a PC onto the Xerox Duplicator’s internal hard drive. This will save significant time over the standard method of burning a master disc and using that to load one image file at a time onto the duplicator’s hard drive.
The Xerox Duplicator falls in line with the original concept of reproduction and duplication that Xerox was known for as well as fits into the new direction of innovation and technology that Xerox is moving towards. Looks like a perfect fit for the company and its clientèle ready to move into the new millennium of the Digital Age!
